the king of pop

Today is a sad day. First Farrah, and now Michael Jackson has died. I am feeling truly saddened for his family and music lovers around the world. He was the king of pop. His tunes are catchy and classic and will forever be loved. His music was a huge part of my childhood. Rest in peace Michael. Rest in peace.

wide open spaces

There is nothing like the wide open beauty of the West Texas sky. My heart is in love with that horizon.

These shoes are fabulous. Good thing I am not a size 6, otherwise these suede beauties would be in my cart and on my tootsies. You should buy them though!

busy bee

I love bees. In fact, the bf calls me his bee. And I think that bee jewelry, especially little lapel pins and earrings, are extra sweet. These little bees are especially lovely.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I know that I have been a busy little bee myself lately, but I promise to be back to regular posting soon. Until then.

le fleur

I would love to have one of each piece in the fleurwood Summer 2009 collection. So floaty and dreamy and sultry and utterly summer.

These dresses are to die for. Wouldn't some of these beauties make lovely, offbeat wedding gowns?

And a few playsuits for good measure. Honeymoon anyone?

And with that, I wish you a wonderful weekend. See you on Monday!

3eb

So I randomly decided at the last minute to tag along with my younger sister to the Third Eye Blind concert at the Palladium Ballroom in Deep Ellum on Monday. And I am so glad I did. The concert was so, so great. 3eb reminds me of high school in a good way.  And I bumped into my best friend, who I recognized by his smell alone (don't ask. we have been friends for a really long time). It was amahzing. I have to say that a live concert by a 90's band is probably one of my most favorite things. Ever. It was an awesome way to spend a summer night.  What can I say? I live a semi-charmed kind of life.

My bbf, Danny.

My beautiful sister, E.

lucky girl

I am such a lucky girl! I won a lovely little treat from the wonderful Bertie at casando ideias. It is a gorgeous rose head piece/headband from Twigs & Honey. Jealous? I would be! Isn't she lovely? I also received the latest copy of UK Brides magazine which would have cost a small fortune here in the States. Oh, how I love a good bridal magazine (I always have! Don't get too excited)!

Thanks so much Bertie! I love it!

P.S. I apologize for the outfit-I had just gotten off of work, and was super excited about the package!

sweet succulents

Oh how do I love succulents? Let me count the ways. Way one: they are almost impossible to kill, which is great for my sadly black thumb. These beauties even like arid desert-y climate, meaning that if you forget to water them for awhile, you can rest assured they will forgive you. I have a small one that lives on the windowsill in my office (all the way up on the 42nd floor) that has flourished despite the harsh flourescent overhead lighting and sporadic watering. Gotta love that. Way two: they seriously have quirky little personalities. C's grandparents have a HUGE flowering agave in thier sandy front yard in El Paso that is spindly and leggy and awesome. Way three: they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and colors (and change color depending on the lighting). Plus they are all so positively juicy looking. I love them, and C loves them. I gifted one to my grandmother for mother's day and I was gifted a little planter full of them (similar to the ones below) for my birthday back in April.

Needless to say, I love love this idea from the cute, quirky new blog yes, please. Kelly and her hubby had seriously amazing DIY succulent centerpieces and guest goodies at thier wedding. Totally inspirational and totally an idea worth stealing! She got her cool zinc numbers at Anthro and her little plants for approx. $1.75/plant at Home Depot. The little galvantized tin planters that they used as guest favors were from ikea. So stinking sweet.

P.S. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. This weekend I am re-potting some plants, including my office buddy, doing some late-spring/early-summer cleaning (including my closet if I can bribe myself with enough coffee and cookies) and generally laying low. And I can't wait.

All pretty pics via yes, please.
