an ode to open shelving

Oh open shelving, how I love thee! I especially love you when paired with all white cabinetry or subway tiles or both. Sigh. I am such a collector of things. Pretty things. Things like milk glass and cake stands and white vases. And I have lots of pretty things that would look even prettier grouped in little vignettes on open shelves. Someday.

xoxo, me.

fontastic

I am uber excited to create my own personalized font using my handwriting. How cool is that? It would be such a neat thing to do for party invites or holiday cards, and your hand never gets tired!

desirable, sustainable design

Aren't these Alexander Girard PLYPrints grand? I like a fun, funky bit of art with a touch of environmental awareness. Originally popularized in the 1970s, Columbia Forest Products reissued six 14" x 14" iconic Alexander Girard whimsical textile prints, but this time they printed them on plywood planks, a reusable, renewable material. How cool is that?

All six designs available at Design Public for $89. More info on Girard available here and here.

a designer home of sorts

This dollhouse was created by architect Joshua Prince-Ramus for the Calvin Klien for a holiday display at the 5th Ave store in NYC. It is a 1,000 lb, miniature, four-story dwelling of sorts furnished with all things CK, reproduced in miniature. Pretty stinkin cool. Ahhh to live in NY and to see it for myself. Full story here.

a day without great design?

True that, Target. True that.

Crappy office photo copy scan of ad from Vanity Fair magazine via me. Yes, I am proud of my limited knowledge of technology. Thanks for asking.
