saint valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day to my love. This is our 5th Valentine together, but the first (and only) one when he is my fiance. I am most excited that I will be spending every Valentine's Day from here on out with him. Oh how oh-so-very sweet it is to be loved by him.

P.S. Snow days + holiday weekend + 4 days off of work + being in love with your valentine + having a lovely bridal shower hosted for you + sister being in town = AMAZING weekend. Just thought you would like to know.

offbeat beauty

How gorgeous is this vintage 70s lace dress? I think it would be awesome for an offbeat, indie type wedding. Don't you?

Just add this cheeky little hat and dazzling bag, and you are all set.

cha cha

These shoes are fabulous. Good thing I am not a size 6, otherwise these suede beauties would be in my cart and on my tootsies. You should buy them though!

roadside projects

I would love LOVE to own an original of one of these quirky, adorable paper cutouts from etsy seller Roadside Projects. I suppose I will settle for a print (avail on etsy, from $15-$20). The problem will be choosing just one. Love, love, love.

love your life

This recipe for success has been echoing in my mind lately. It is a good suggestion to ponder. Do you do what you love and love what you do?

I am seriously obessively loving these finger puppets from etsy seller Abby Christine. All adorably had made of felt, sold puppets include famous historical and fictional characters and couples, including Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, Lloyd Dobler, Andy Warhol, Flight of the Conchords, Breakfast Club, Amelie, Juno and Paulie, Willie Nelson, and Obama and McCain. Her shop also includes other goodies like little felt pouches, and she will even do custom orders.

political cartoons

I love this witty political cartoon-esque booklet from etsy seller Creepy Box of Treasure. The artiste, Maria Sputnik does other little comics too, and for $2.50 a pop, I'd say get one of each.

P.S. Can it really be 100 posts already? Thanks to all my lovely readers for visiting and allowing me to entertain you with my musings. Cheers to another 100 or 200 or more!

wrap it up

Brrrrrr. It is a bone chilling 38 degrees with wind and drizzle in Dallas today. Good thing I am crazy for coats. Either of these would fit the bill. They have been added to my Christmas list. (Am I still allowed to add to the list when Christmas is just a week 1/2 away?)

Handsewn ruffles. Perfection. Plaid Plum Coat via etsy seller Little Houses.

Oh how I love estate sale finds. Red Military Dress Coat from etsy vintage seller Good Grace.

Either one could easily be topped off with one of these bad boys. Love it.

chain, chain, chain

I love me a great keychain. No seriously, ask the bf. And I especially love this one made from a letterpress key from etsy seller letterfest. You know, I think my stocking could use one of these. Initial A, please and thank you.

etsy love

I have been on the lookout for the perfect pair of vintage salt and pepper shakers for some time now. And while I secretly hope to find them at an estate sale for like $1, I can't help but browse etsy for them approximately every three days or so. At any rate, I have found lots of contenders, but somehow I just can't bring myself to purchase any. For the moment I have decided I can blame it on my shopping hiatus. So can somebody please buy this so I don't have to? That would be great.

Freaking adorable vintage toaster salt and pepper shaker. $8 from Mole Hill Treasures etsy shop.

nie nie benefit sale at etsy

I am so excited about all of the blogging love going around for Nie Nie and her family. Stephanie and her husband Christian were in a private plane crash on August 16, 2008 and they are still on the long road to recovery.

Nie Nie's story is so touching and I am really impressed by the amount of love and compassion people are pouring out for Stephanie and Christian. I visited the etsy sight for the two day Nie Nie Benefit Sale on its first day yesterday, and of the 161 items Morgan at One More Moore posted, there were only 8 left 30 minutes into the sale at 12:30, CST. That is truly incredible!

Rumor has it that more items will be posted here today at 12 CST, and I know I will be there to support the Nielson's cause. The Nielson's and their children are certainly in my prayers.

If you want more information about Nie Nie and Christian's progress, visit C Jane.

Update: It is 12:15pm, CST and there are only 3 items left. This outpouring of desire to help is amazing! Also, Morgan has extended the Benefit Sale and will be posting more items on both Thursday and Friday at 12pm, CST.

magpiesandmagnolias on etsy

Also thought it was worth a mention that due to my serious estate saling on Saturday, I will actually be adding some vintage treasures to my etsy shop at some point this week. The bf has been tapped to do some photographing and styling. Can't wait to share!

la la love it

I recently moved to a new apartment to be closer to work (5 minute commute-woo hoo!) and I am in the never ending process of decorating my space. Last night my new roomie and I finally hung my collection of vintage "art" and prints from etsy in the den. I have been jonesing for a gallery wall for some time and I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I have one more etsy print to frame and hang above the large circle of trees, and it will be complete.

(picture to come, as soon as I take it)

We have the rest of the apartment organized and decorated (with the exception of my closet-THAT is a never ending process) and so the time has come to tackle my bedroom. I saved a few special treasures and some personal photos for the walls in the bedroom but there is still a ton of white space. Let me back track here and explain the sitch. I moved from a one bedroom, approximately 750sf space to a large two bedroom apt with 12ft ceilings. My new bedroom is several feet long and wider than my old one. So, infinite more square footage+freakishly high ceilings=bajillions of miles of white walls. Needless to say, I have a large blank canvas to work with. What to do, what to do? I have fairly eclectic taste, so I perused my usual daily blog reads for ideas and came up with quite a few that I love. (A pola gallery of kissing pictures! A strip of patterned wallpaper behind the bed! A mishmash of different sized letters spelling out favorite words!) Then I turned to my most favorite of favorites, etsy. Here are a few of my favorite things:

You Deserve Pie poster from etsy seller Tealtown. Because, frankly, don't we all deserve pie? And I la la love me some letterpress.

Wilco handlebar stache poster from pfahlert. One of the greatest bands of all time and one of the most epic staches of all time.

Handprinted botanical using three colors from nateduval. Just so, so pretty.

This iconic poster from, among others, 10thavenue, BluLima and sfgirlbybay.

And these three from SparklePower. I ended up la la loving the last one the most, so it's on it's way to me now! Hooray! I love you etsy.
